What’s the story behind KFC?

KFC was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders, an entrepreneur who began selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the 1930s. Sanders eventually franchised the business, and by the early 1950s KFC had become one of the most popular fast-food chains in the United States. However, Sanders sold the company to a group of investors in 1964.

The chain continued to grow rapidly throughout the 1970s and 1980s, but it faced several setbacks in the 1990s, including a series of health scares related to its menu items. In 1997, KFC was acquired by Yum! Brands—the parent company of Pizza Hut and Taco Bell—and has since rebounded with renewed success. Today, KFC has become one of the world’s largest fast-food chains and is franchised in more than 120 countries.

In 2019, Forbes magazine ranked Yum among its 100 Best Employers for Diversity. A&W Restaurants, a chain that also uses fried chicken as its primary menu item, began to compete with KFC from 1921 onward.[citation needed] KFC’s original product is pressure-fried pieces of chicken made with the original recipe. The constituents of the recipe represent a notable trade secret. Larger portions of fried chicken are served in a cardboard “bucket”, which has become a well-known feature of the chain since it was first introduced by franchisee Pete Harman in 1957.

So how do you order from KFC?

Here are two ways of doing so!

Option 1: Go on their website and choose what you want to be done with your chicken (eg: original recipe, extra crispy, etc.) This is the most straightforward way and will take about 5 minutes depending on how hungry you are and what you want. When ordering for yourself or a group of people, we recommend using this method.

Option 2: Order through the chain’s smartphone app. It takes just 3 quick steps to go through all of the orders that your group would like. This is perfect for parties of 2 to 4 people, however, if you are ordering for a larger group or have special requirements, we still recommend Option 1.

Beta testers who ordered through the app have reported that the process takes about 5 minutes less than what it would take using their website.

For groups of 5 or more, please contact our Marketing Team at [email protected] They will be delighted to help you with your orders!

We highly encourage customers to use either method as this ensures that all orders are placed correctly and on time by our staff in-store! Do note that KFC online deliveries can only commence when we receive at least 10 orders in the same order field with the same timings.
