Why is Jio’s internet so slow?

1) They are testing the entire network to make sure everything is running smoothly after April 1 when all users will be on the 4G network.

2) They are currently in beta testing. If you remember, even when Facebook was in beta testing, it would run slow for some time before they launched the final version of their app. That’s because this is not just about building an app – but all the backend processes that need to go in sync with each other.

3) There is an insane amount of load on Jio’s servers right now due to everyone rushing to get a SIM card and there hasn’t been any formal marketing campaign run by Reliance so far (to my knowledge). All online registrations are done through SMSand telecom operators have got a huge boost to their revenue thanks to Jio.

4) Not just last mile but there is a bottleneck somewhere in Reliance’s servers or bandwidth providers where they are now running out of bandwidth and hence, internet speed could fluctuate as traffic increases and goes down. This problem will be resolved once the entire world moves over to digital currencies (1 MB = 1 BTC).

5) All testing was completed on the older LYF handsets which were capable of 4G speeds only upto 3.6 Mbps and not 24Mbps that we see on other 4G networks like Airtel through Cat4 towers that support 14.7 Mbps speeds and beyond (because our emi reading is much lower than internationalstandards).

6) We all know that there are millions of users who were on 2G or 3G before and hence, they have never seen a good internet connection in their lives. They will argue about why Jio is not fast even if it’s blazingly fast for us right now. Remember, fish don’t understand the concept of water because they’ve always been in water while you were on land.

7) In my opinion, this is the best time to get a simcard from them because through our feedback and other channels, we can help them make Jio faster for everyone else too.

8) The more people use data services, the faster things should get as ISPs typically add new servers when their current infrastructure isn’tenough to support increased number of users.

9) The only time I experienced any speed issues was when many people in my building signed up for Jio SIM cards which caused network congestion within our building premises since everyone wanted their internet connection to be faster than the other guy’s. Now, this is inevitable no matter how much marketing goes behind it. But, once they are done with their signup process and put up enough Bandwidth capacity – things should get fast again.

What is the SIM rate of Jio?

The guys at Jio are currently offering the services for free.

Will I still get 4G speed after April 1? Yes, You will able to use 4G even after April 1rst because this is not just about launching an app but all the backend processes that need to go in sync with each other. So, It will be available for everyone no matter which SIM card you have got.

What factors affect internet speed?

Broadly speaking – Two major factors can affect your internet speed – Network Server.

Network: This is the infrastructure of your telecom operator which means if they are running out of Bandwidth, there will be network congestion which can cause extremely slow internet speed for some users. You can read more about Bandwidth here: http://moneylifehacks.com/bandwidth-and-how-it-affects-internet-speed/

Server: The server your data travels through could also affect the internet speed you see at the end of the day. If you are on a 4G connection but your ISP is only giving you access to 2G or 3G servers, then obviously even if their network is not congested, it does not make any difference because all websites will load extremely slow because the server has a low bandwidth connection to the internet.

I hope these explanations help you understand why Jio’s network is slow and what we can do about it in the future. Also, If you like my articles, please like and subscribe so I know that I’m helping people out there who need this information.
